I stay some distance back from the leading edge. What kernel do you have installed? Mine is 2.6.24-16, 64 bit, I have seen problems reported with 2.6.25 and up, but have not tried it. Once you get it working, you might want to try a static IP, it speeds things up. I am running it (8.04) now, with the WS 6.5 BETA and it is connecting fine. BUT, I think you should be able to get bridged to work with Ubuntu. There are some things that don't seem to work as well in Ubuntu, like copy/paste, but I have not pursued it because I prefer openSUSE anyway (I am running 10.3 on this workstation most of the time). At that time, Sonicwall GCP did not run on Vista so I ran from Linux and tossed Vista (this was on my laptop). I did use a product called NCP which would connect to the Sonicwall from Linux (openSUSE 10.3).But, it wasn't free. I don't have wireless in this workstation but wired runs fine in bridged mode and connects to the Sonicwall (actually, 3 different ones). Also FWIIW, when I do an ifconfig -a, no Vmnet0 shows up. 6.5 and it runs XP, Vista, and W2K VM's bridged with no problem. Note: I cannot use Sonicwall on Linux (ubuntu - not supported).įWIIW: I have a host installation of Ubuntu 8.04 that I use for the BETA of W.S. The only network adapter that has any connectivity is NAT.

I cannot get a bridged connection established, despite it being configured properly upon install (vmnet0 set to bridged). I don't have access to the sonicwall router log. I get the same error using VirtualBox - it runs NAT by default with no easily configurable bridged networking option. Note: I cannot use Sonicwall on Linux (ubuntu - not supported). My ultimate goal is to get a (password protected) PocketAce package deployed so that I can log into my VPN from a USB drive and launch an RDP session on my servers.

If anyone has any ideas on how to fix this, I'd love to know. (After all, Vista has only been out for a year and a half.)
SONICWALL GLOBAL VPN INSTALL WINDOWS
In fact, my host is Windows Vista Ultimate (圆4), and Sonicwall hasn't released a VPN client for this yet. I read this post: This isn't my issue, though, as I'm not running a VPN in my host. I've also tried using both bridged and NAT settings, and still it's a no-go. I've checked my ability to get to the internet, and that is working, so it shouldn't be a network adapter issue, sfaik. The problem is that the "Sonicwall VPN Adapter" starts a constant process of trying to acquire an IP address.

After doing the second install, presumably correcting the issue, the interface will start. The first thing that is kind of weird is that I have to install the Globabl VPN client twice, as the first time it doesn't "register", although it doesn't tell you that until after it has "successfully" installed. Either way, I'm running into the same issue. I've got a completely clean and fresh Windows XP install in workstation 6.0.3, and I've also tried cloning it off to a pocket ACE instance as well. I'm having an issue trying to get the Sonicwall Global VPN client working in a Windows XP virtual machine.
